Gor Mahia Considers Security Measures After Break-In

Africa-Press – Kenya. Gor Mahia are considering introducing additional dressing room security measures after a break-in at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani during their FKF Premier League clash with Bandari FC.

Players lost mobile phones and personal valuables after unknown individuals reportedly accessed the dressing room in the first half of the 0-0 draw, leaving the squad unsettled heading into the second period.

Secretary General Nick Arum confirmed the club has taken up the matter with authorities and begun internal checks to establish how the breach occurred.

“The moment the players alerted us, we informed the relevant authorities and began internal checks,” he said, adding that the club is “putting safety measures into place.

”The incident overshadowed the match, with Gor Mahia unable to break down Bandari despite late pressure, as the game ended goalless.

The breach has raised fresh concerns over access control at Kasarani, especially with the upcoming Mashemeji Derby against AFC Leopards.

The fixture has previously faced crowd control challenges, and the latest incident has intensified scrutiny on matchday security and organisation.

It also echoes past cases at the same venue, including incidents in 2016 and May 2022 when Nairobi City Stars players lost valuables under similar circumstances.

A report has been filed at Kasarani Police Station, with investigations underway, according to stadium press officer Rakki Asman.

With the derby approaching, focus now shifts to whether tighter security measures will be implemented to safeguard players and officials.
