Africa-Press – Kenya. General Service Unit pipped Black Mamba 22-21 in a tight Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league clash at Nyayo National Stadium.

Both sides were locked 10-1O in this cliffhanger before the paramilitary side got the better of the losers in the end.

The win pushed fourth-placed GSU, who have played 12 games, within two points of the losers.

Fenwick Opiyo nailed eight goals and Christopher Mayende added five. Paul Ondara had five for Mamba.

Strathmore University had to come from a 13-12 halftime deficit to beat Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology 28-22. Prevailer Muhani hit seven and Philip Muia six for Strath.

KU had six from Lewis Maraga and four from Derick Mwathi.

In the ladies’ matches, Daystar University had it rough, going down hard 57-6 to a rampaging Kenyatta University side.

KU, who led 30-3 at halftime had Doris Odende managing 19 while Clareh Wanyonyi stuck 15. Meldon Akoth shot five for Daystar.

In their second game of the day, Daystar University suffered a 21-15 loss at the hands of New Hope.

Florence Simiyu bagged 10 goals for Hope who led 9-7 at halftime. Akoth provided the losers with eight.
