Health workers put on notice as Kemsa supply drugs in Isiolo

Africa-Press – Kenya. In a bid to boost health service, Isiolo county has received three months of drug supply from Kemsa.

While receiving the consignment, acting Health Services chief officer Peter Ngechu said they are committed to ensuring residents have access to affordable healthcare.

“I wish to reiterate Governor Abdi Guyo’s commitment to ensure that residents get high-quality but affordable healthcare. This government will work tirelessly to ensure our residents get the drugs and medical attention needed,” he said.

Drugs received include pharmaceutical, non-pharmaceutical, renal, theatre, laboratory and Covid-19 medication.

“Isiolo has so far received six trucks of drugs from Kemsa to be distributed across all health facilities in the county,” he said on Monday.

Additionally, Ngechu cautioned health workers who are in the habit of stealing drugs from county hospitals.

He said that Governor Guyo’s administration would not condone the criminal behaviour.

“The governor has warned against the behaviour of stealing drugs from hospital stores and anybody who will be caught in the act will be dealt with accordingly,” he said.

Last year, The Kenya Medical Supplies Authority announced it will be delivering family planning commodities and other essential medicines to health facilities using an application.

They rolled out the use of the Electronic Proof of Deliveries application to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in delivery.

The e-POD app has GPS capabilities to ensure supplies are delivered to the right health facilities.

It also has a receipt and acknowledgement module for the facility to ensure the commodities are delivered in their right quantities.

The application also monitors order turnaround time, which helps to avert delays in delivery that can cause stock-out of essential health commodities at the facility level.
