Africa-Press – Kenya. ODM national chairman John Mbadi has said he wishes to be the president in the future and not the official opposition leader. Speaking on Wednesday, Mbadi said that he has served in other honourable capacities before and he now wants to progress higher in politics.
“I’m very comfortable where I am. I will be the president of this country, I don’t want to be the official leader of opposition,” he said.
“I have been Minority Leader before, it is enough for me, I now want to move up.” This is after Mbadi said he is ready to resign as the ODM national chairman.
The nominated MP said there is a clique of people who orchestrated his removal as the Minority Leader and are now hell-bent to push him out of ODM leadership.
The seasoned legislator was responding to a sustained onslaught by some opposition leaders that he has been snubbing rallies convened by Azimio’s leader Raila Odinga.
“Those who think being chairman is so important to them let them offer themselves to lead. I am very ready to leave the position to them, right now I am the chairman but I am not dying to be one. I have done my bit they took away my position as the Minority Leader yet I am still alive,” Mbadi said.
“They can still take away the chairmanship, but I will still be alive.” Raila has said the party will conduct its internal poll this year as they are currently putting in place measures to hold comprehensive elections.
