Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya’s top tries Sevens scorer Collins Injera will grace the Fiji Coral Coast Sevens as the tournament’s ambassador in January next year.
The Mwamba winger has 279 tries to his credit and currently sits second on the try-scoring list behind Englishman Dan Norton with a career spanning 16 years.
Tournament director, Jay White, said they are delighted to have Injera on board as an ambassador for the event.
“Injera is a global superstar to this game and we believe he will inspire a generation of younger players,” added White.
The talismanic player urged younger players to stay disciplined and focused.
“With discipline, you’ll be able to achieve anything because although nothing good comes easy, everything comes with a bit of sacrifice. It’s just a matter of what you’re willing to sacrifice,” he added.
Elsewhere, Lenana have been seeded top rugby Sevens during the Nairobi county secondary school games in their backyard this weekend. Lenana are in Pool A alongside Garden Estate, Lang’ata and Jamhuri
Ofafa Jericho headline Pool ‘B’ where they will do battle with Dagoretti, Eastleigh and Hospital Hill. Nairobi School are in Pool C alongside Sunshine, Kibra and Our Lady of Fatima while Aquinas headline Pool D which also features Upper Hill, St. Mary’s and Kangemi.
The winner of the tournament will represent Nairobi at the National Championships slated for next month in Nakuru.
