Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has declared his boss President William Ruto as the leader of the Mt Kenya region. Speaking during the interdenominational service held at Sagana State Lodge, Gachagua said in order for someone to be declared a leader of the region, they have to cross river Chania by road and not air.

“There is a way it is done, that journey must take 8 hours, not more not less. The leader must come from Nairobi and cross river Chania by road. You crossed the river at 10:38 am and we received you here at 6:38 pm,” he said.

“I want to announce that you are now the confirmed leader of the Mt Kenya region in a traditional way. The way we receive a king.”

The DP went on to narrate how they derailed the head of state in order for them to use the stipulated hours to Sagana and took the president through the region to pass the time.

“Tulisumbuana sana na watu wako Rais, hukua unajua kile tunafanya. Tukiona masaa inaenda polepole tunakimbiza, ikikimbia sana, tunarudi nyuma,” he narrated.

This is loosely translated to: We were in constant back and forth with your people, and you never understood what was going on. When they were going fast we asked them to slow down and vise vasa.

He said the numerous stopovers that were made on Saturday passing through the Mt Kenya region were for a reason. Gachagua said that the region made a conscious decision and careful political calculations to elect him as the leader of the country.

“The people of this region had only two choices, the past and the future. We analysed the situation and we are convinced that by experience and reason that William Ruto had the plan to transform this county,” he said.
