Africa-Press – Kenya. A strong field is expected across both junior and senior categories as the 2026 EAMSC Championship heads into Round Two at the Jamhuri MX Track on Sunday, with young talents continuing to form the backbone of the competition.

The MX 50 Junior and MX 50 classes will once again provide an early glimpse into the sport’s future, featuring riders such as Allen Ngoru, Ethan Anyonyi, Amir Rutto, Lochlann Maguire and Zane Ngoru, all set to battle for early-season supremacy.

In the MX 65 category, a competitive grid including Gabriella Gichuhi, Ian Nduati, Jayden Ozzie Wakhungu, Jeremy Hawi, Justin Murithi, Matt Kagondu, Sila Adeya Muna and Wachira Mahinda is expected to contest three demanding heats.

The MX 85 (MX Lites) class is shaping up to be one of the most competitive, with a deep lineup that includes Alexandra Gichuhi, Armani Amani, Chris Nduati, Dylan Hatanga, Jedd Kagondu, Jonross Nyachae, Kigen Mutuma, Ngengi Kamau, Nzau Kahindi, Raya Mugo, Thuku Waweru and Ngengi Kamau among those targeting crucial championship points.

Their races, run over 12 minutes plus one lap, are expected to play a significant role in shaping the early season standings.

In the senior ranks, Chemain Kangogo and Jonathan Mutinda headline the MX 125 class, while Rohan Gandhi leads the charge in the premier MX1 category, with the MX2 field also promising strong competition. Veteran action will feature prominently in the VMX category, where Peter Mutinda represents the Masters division in a combined class.

The race format will see all classes compete across three separate heats, with durations varying by category. Junior races range from eight to 12 minutes plus one lap, while senior classes extend up to 18 minutes plus one lap, testing both speed and endurance across the technical Jamhuri circuit.

The championship heads into its second round at a crucial stage of the season, with riders beginning to establish momentum and target early points in what promises to be a tightly contested campaign.

Track conditions and race management will be under close supervision, with Clerk of the Course Eric Nyachae overseeing proceedings alongside a full complement of technical, safety, and medical officials. Strict adherence to safety protocols remains a priority, including mandatory rider briefings, controlled practice sessions, and the requirement for fully equipped emergency services before any track action begins.

The day begins with sign-on and scrutineering from 7:15am to 8:30am, followed by the riders’ briefing at 9:10am. Practice will commence at 9:30am, with racing getting underway at 10:15am starting with the MX 50 Junior class. Action will continue throughout the day in class order, culminating in prize-giving scheduled for approximately 4:30pm.
