Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya’s push to become a regional medical tourism hub has received a boost as investors, suppliers and policymakers are set to convene in Nairobi to explore opportunities in the health sector.
The country has been accelerating efforts to position itself as East Africa’s leading medical destination, betting on new investments in specialist care, digital health systems and modern hospital infrastructure to attract patients from across the region.
The strategy is part of a broader push to strengthen healthcare services at home while reducing the number of Kenyans who travel abroad for treatment.
In an effort to attract investments to the sector, Nairobi will host the 26th edition of MEDEXPO Kenya from April 22 to April 24 at the Sarit Expo Centre, bringing together healthcare manufacturers, suppliers, policymakers and investors from across East Africa and beyond.
The annual medical trade exhibition is expected to attract government officials, diplomats, hospital administrators and industry representatives seeking new partnerships and business opportunities in the region’s growing healthcare market.
“As Kenya’s demand for sophisticated diagnostics and specialised treatment surges, MEDEXPO 2026 provides a first-look at the technologies that will define the next decade of care,” said the event organisers.
The event will be opened by Fredrick Oluga, Medical Services Principal Secretary and State Department for Trade Regina Ombam is expected to attend as guest of honour.
The exhibition comes as Kenya and neighbouring countries continue to invest in expanding healthcare infrastructure, diagnostics capacity and specialised treatment services.
More than a dozen companies from countries including India, South Africa, China, Turkey, Italy and Kenya are expected to showcase products and services.
Exhibitors include Anton Paar Southern Africa, Dlab Scientific Company, Nairobi Enterprises Limited and Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital.
Organisers say the exhibition will feature medical technologies ranging from surgical tables and orthopaedic implants to vaccine refrigeration systems, biomaterials and pharmaceutical products.
Industry associations supporting the event include the Kenya Association of Private Hospitals, Kenya Pharmaceutical Association, Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya, Rural & Urban Private Hospitals Association and Medical Technology Industry Association of Kenya.
MEDEXPO Kenya has become one of the region’s key trade fairs for healthcare procurement, distribution agreements and investment discussions, reflecting East Africa’s rising demand for modern medical services and equipment.
