Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya Defence Force will on Friday, September 9, hold a farewell ceremony for outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

President Kenyatta is the Commander-In-Chief of the Defence Forces.

In a statement, Colonel public affairs and KDF spokesperson Esther Wanjiku said the event was in line with the military traditions

“This is in line with the military tradition and custom to hold a farewell ceremony for the Commander-In-Chief of Defence Forces,” she said.

The event will be held at Ulinzi Sports Complex Langata which will proceed to the pulling out of the outgoing Commander-In-Chief at Defence headquarters in Hurlingham, Nairobi.

Uhuru has served as Kenya’s President and Commander-In-Chief for 10 years following his election in 2013 and re-election in 2017.

He will be handing over power to President-Elect William Ruto on Tuesday, September 13, during his swearing-in.

On Monday, September 5, the Supreme Court of Kenya upheld William Ruto’s win.

In an interview with CNN, Ruto said that Uhuru had not yet congratulated him following his win.

“My boss has not seen it fit to congratulate me following my win,” Ruto said.
