Keep off, you're part of the mess - Ruto MPs tell Raila

Africa-Press – Kenya. MPs allied to the ruling Kenya Kwanza alliance have told Azimio leader Raila Odinga to keep off the government’s economic recovery agenda. The MPs, who addressed the media on Friday, accused Raila of being part of the country’s economic mess.

Led by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah, the leaders said Raila was part of the woes roiling Kenya. They said the Handshake government, in which Raila was retired President Uhuru Kenyatta’s political ‘brother’, Kenya’s fortunes dwindled.

“He is part and parcel of the problem, he abandoned his oversight role,” Ichungwah said.

“They have left our country in ruins.” he added. Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro told Raila to sit back and watch as the Ruto administration turns round the economy.

Raila had on Thursday accused Ruto’s administration of seeking to tax Kenyans to prosperity, saying no country grows by burdening its citizens. The ODM leader asked Ruto to drop his push to have Kenyans pay more to the National Social Security Fund.
