Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya and Australia have agreed to enhance collaboration in various fields through the strengthening of parliamentary ties.
The two countries made the commitments when Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetang’ula hosted Australian High Commissioner to Kenya Luke Williams who called on him in his office at Parliament Buildings.
Williams said Kenya and Australia historically enjoy a cordial relationship, which required boosting through formal Parliamentary engagements.
“Kenya and Australia are friendly nations which need to advance their engagements for mutual benefits of the two countries,” he stated.
The Speaker noted that the visit was timely as it came at the time the country is settling down from an election period with her citizenry looking forward to a better economy.
“We have an active Parliamentary Friendship Group that needs activation for regular engagements with the counterparts in the Australian Parliament for peer exchange and knowledge sharing,” said Wetang’ula.
Wetang’ula noted that there was advanced collaboration in education as well as knowledge exchange in the mining sector.
He emphasised on the need to explore more areas of partnership between the two countries including tourism and trade.
He assured the envoy that the Kenyan Government is focused on delivering a robust economy.
