Africa-Press – Kenya. The Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba held talks with the Serbian Football Federation President Dragan Džajić on Wednesday, June 28. The purpose of the talks is to establish a partnership to support the growth and development of football in Kenya.

Namwamba revealed that through the partnership, Kenyan football stands to benefit from Serbia’s excellent coaches. The Serbian athletes on the other hand will utilise Kenya’s high-altitude grounds for training.

“We want to see how we can tap into your pool of coaches to help develop our youth football. We are starting a youth football program and are very keen to get a good coach to help us on this,” said Namwamba.

While lauding Kenya’s 60-year friendship with the Serbian government, he noted that the partnership will extend to women’s football, which he said has come off age.

The CS also noted that Kenya will seek to benefit from Serbia’s excellence in other sports including tennis, basketball and volleyball. He also added that Serbia will benefit from Kenya’s prowess in athletics and rugby.

President Džajić assured Namwamba of his federation’s readiness to partner with Kenya in the development of talents towards elevating Kenya’s football to the next level. The CS is currently in Belgrade, Serbia, for the Afro Festival 2023, where Kenya is the Chief Guest at the Cultural and Arts festivals.
