Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya and Japan are weighing the possibility of introducing direct flights between the two countries.
Japanese Ambassador Ken Okaniwa said having direct flights from Nairobi to Tokyo is highly possible.
Speaking when he paid a courtesy call to National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Okaniwa said direct flights would boost trade between the two countries
Wetang’ula acknowledged the huge contribution made by the Japanese government in the technology and infrastructure sectors.
“Japan is an advanced market economy and there is a lot we can benchmark,” he said
He appreciated the role played by the Tokyo International Conference on Africa Development in creating a forum for the exchange of ideas and learning for countries across the world.
Okaniwa said he was delighted to meet and engage the speaker on various matters including manufacturing, climate change and waste management
He said Kenya is a great business partner saying Japan is open to exchange programmes with MPs from the two Houses.
Japan has a bicameral Legislative System known as the National Diet.
The Diet consists of an Upper House-the House of Councilors and a Lower House-the House of Representatives. It is the sole law-making organ of the State.
