Africa-PressKenya. A senior BBC broadcast journalist, Anthony Makokha, has been poached by KTN News.

Makokha will be going to KTN as the new Audio Visual Managing Editor. He will be leading a team supporting digital, radio, TV, print and outdoor campaigns at the Standard group.

“We are very appreciative for all the hard work that Anthony has done for us over the past two years, and he will be missed.

“We are also very grateful to Anthony for leading the Nairobi team during this pandemic – as the team has been working remotely with various day to day challenges,” reads an internal memo seen by Kenyans.co.ke.

Makokha’s last working day at BBC will be on April 28, 2021.

The journalists boasts of a successful career having previously worked at Nation Media Group for a period of four years (2014 to 2018) and at the Standard Media Group (which owns KTN News) for two years (2011-2014)

At Nation, the journalist helped with the production of content for TV, web and mobile, site optimization, social media strategy and management, live streaming for web, digital set top boxes and mobile.

On the other hand, at Standard, he introduced and set up Live TV streaming at KTN as well as live Twitter feeds on air.

KTN went through restructuring on March 3, 2021. They assured their employees that the company was adopting integrated workflows, scraping off and creating new positions that will see all departments work together in a cockpit newsroom.

Nine editors were selected to head different departments, all reporting directly to group editor in chief Ochieng’ Rapuro. These are;

Kizito Namulanda – Intake Editor

Peter Opondo – Strategy & Content Editor (Broadcast)

Caroline Kimutai – Digital Editor

John Bundotich – Daily Print Editor

Charles Otieno – Weekly Print Editor

Caroline Wambui, Lilian Aluanga and Nzau Musau – Continuity Editors

The media house also unveiled a new newspaper design on April 8, 2021. Standard CEO Orlando Lyomu indicated that the changes would offer more visual, interactive and informative look.

In addition, the media house vowed to deliver high-quality, factual and competitive news, information and entertainment products.
