Africa-Press – Kenya. Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has called on politicians who lost during last year’s general elections to focus their energy on planning for 2027 instead of attaching the government.

Waiguru who spoke during a church service in Kirinyaga on Sunday said the government will not be distracted by naysayers. She said the agenda of the current government is to deliver on the promises made to Kenyans during the campaign period.

The governor urged President William Ruto to ignore the distractions and allow his foot soldiers to handle it, noting that he managed to pull through despite being maltreated and isolated in the previous regime.

“I think they are looking for relevance. If they were clever and they are politicians they would be strategising. I have seen the clever ones lining up at the Deputy President’s office because they know they are going nowhere,” Waiguru said.

“We are continuing with work and we want to work with you to deliver. You have changed the conversation in this country, you moved us from empty rhetoric to discussing things that matter to the people on the economy and that is where we are.”

This comes amid the anticipated Azimio rally at Kamkunji Grounds on Monday. Azimio leader Raila Odinga is expected to issue a compressive statement on claims by a whistleblower that the 9 August 2022 presidential election was rigged.
