Africa-Press – Kenya. The High Court of Mombasa has charged a police constable with murder. Meshack Kosgei pleaded not guilty to the alleged murder of his wife, Emily Misiza, in Nyali on December 6, 2022.

Lady Justice Ann Ong’injo released Kosgei on Sh1 million bond with a surety of the same amount. The court warned the suspect against interfering with witnesses and the investigation process.

Kosgei is believed to have shot Misiza, the mother of his two children, on suspicion that she was having an affair. According to a police report, he used his official firearm, a Ceska pistol which he had been assigned for official duties.

The pistol was loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition 9 mm, and one spent cartridge was recovered from the scene. She was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to the gunshot wounds at the Coast General Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit. At the time of Misiza’s death on December 16, one bullet was still lodged in her stomach. A pre-trial conference will be held on February 6, 2023.
