Africa-Press – Kenya. Machakos deputy governor Francis Mwangangi has claimed devolution is under threat. Mwangangi said lots of devolved projects were underfunded. He said most of the projects had little funds disbursed to the county governments.

Mwangangi said that the government should disburse adequate funds to counties to implement the projects. “Let those devolved projects be accompanied by adequate funding,” Mwangangi said.

He spoke during a fundraiser at AIC Kithyoko Township, Masinga subcounty on Sunday. On matters of politics, Mwangangi said the Wiper party was united.

Mwangangi said as a region, they had spoken to the Kamba community and they knew what Kalonzo and Karua have done to the country. Mwangangi said Kalonzo should this time be considered for a presidential candidate by the Azimio team in 2027.

“From today, leave us the regional politics, get to national politics with Karua. We are fully behind you,” Mwangangi said. He said as a county government, they were committed to delivering development projects to the residents.

Speaking during the same event, Kitui Senator Enoch Kiio said the issues of 2022 must be dealt with before discussing 2027 politics. He said as Wiper members they are ready to front their party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the next president in 2027. He urged Wiper leaders and members to walk the talk.
