Mudavadi Arrives in New York for 80Th UN General Assembly

Africa-Press – Kenya. Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has arrived in New York to join Kenya’s high-level delegation to the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).

This year’s Assembly is being held under the theme “Better Together: 80 Years and More for Peace, Development and Human Rights.”

The forum brings together Heads of State and Government, Foreign Ministers, and international leaders to deliberate on pressing global issues ranging from peace and security to sustainable development and climate action.

Mudavadi arrived Thursday evening ahead of President William Ruto who is expected to attend the summit.

The PCS who is part of the Kenyan delegation in the meeting will accompany Ruto in representing Kenya at the annual gathering of world leaders.

He is also scheduled to hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings with his counterparts, foreign ministers, and other global leaders to advance Kenya’s foreign policy priorities.

Kenya’s agenda at the Assembly will focus on championing peace and security in Africa and beyond, strengthening economic diplomacy to attract trade and investment, and pushing for sustainable development and climate resilience.

“Our mission is to ensure that the voices of African countries and vulnerable communities are effectively represented in the global response to climate change,” Mudavadi noted ahead of the sessions.

As part of his engagements, the PCS will meet with development partners to reinforce Kenya’s role as a reliable and committed multilateral actor.

He will also highlight Kenya’s unique position as host of the United Nations headquarters in Nairobi and continue lobbying for the country’s candidatures within UN agencies.

Kenya’s participation in this year’s UNGA reaffirms its global leadership and commitment to multilateralism.

The government has emphasised that its diplomatic efforts are geared towards not only advancing the country’s interests but also shaping global solutions in peace, prosperity, and sustainable development while strengthening the collective voice of the African continent.
