Africa-Press – Kenya. Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Vihiga Governor Wilbur Ottichilo have put their rivalry behind them.
The two leaders met on Thursday at Musalia Mudavadi Centre in Nairobi after which Musalia announced he had held broad discussions with Ottichilo.
In the statement shared on Twitter, Mudavadi said they discussed a wide variety of issues with Ottichilo, who was accompanied by his deputy Wilberforce Kitiezo.
“I reaffirmed the government’s commitment to cooperating with county governments in the push to advance the development and guide the nation toward economic independence and ultimate socio-economic growth,” he said.
Mudavadi promised to enhance and protect the quality of service delivery to the public saying the government is committed to strengthening all devolved units and governance structures.
Ottichilo was re-elected on the ODM ticket beating Mudavadi’s candidate Alfred Agoi, who contested on the ANC ticket.
Ottichilo retained his seat after garnering 76,041 votes ahead of his predecessor Moses Akaranga of the Progressive Party of Kenya, who got 37,049 votes.
Former area senator George Khaniri of the United Democratic Party managed 26, 918 votes.
Agoi garnered 21, 071 votes
