Africa-Press – Kenya. Sportpesa League outfit Nairobi United’s technical director Salim Ali and head coach Nicholas Muyoti have welcomed the strengthening of the team’s technical bench ahead of their encounter with Shabana on Sunday.

The league newcomers announced changes to their technical staff on Wednesday, adding two assistant coaches and a strength and conditioning coach.

The club confirmed the arrival of Boniface Omondi from Kariobangi Sharks. The CAF B license holder will serve as the new first assistant coach, while Sadique Waziri, also a CAF B license holder, will be the second assistant coach under Muyoti.

Former Kenyan international Kevin Kimani, who holds a FIFA coaching certificate, has joined as the new strength and conditioning coach.

Ali said the revamp of the technical bench is aimed at improving the team as they strive to make history by winning the Sportpesa League and retaining the Mozzart Cup.

“We are trying to strengthen the team and bring in quality additions. We are in the process of reinforcing the squad ahead of the second leg,” Ali said. He also praised Muyoti for leading the team to victory in the National Super League (NSL) and the Mozzart Cup.

Muyoti emphasised that the new additions will help the team achieve its targets this season. “We are going to work closely with the new coaches. We welcome the changes because they bring experience. It’s a strong team, and together we shall maintain our standards and perform even better,” he said.

The mid-season transfer window opens on January 12 and will run until February 9.

The trio will be part of the Nairobi United squad for the rescheduled Sportpesa League game against Shabana at Gusii Stadium on Sunday.

Shabana, meanwhile, is expected to welcome back forward Brian Michira, captain George Onyango, and midfielder Justin Omwando, who have been sidelined with injuries. Coach Peter Okidi confirmed that all three have resumed training with the team.
