Africa-Press – Kenya. Nairobi has been ranked fifth among the African cities with the highest number of wealthiest people.
This is according to a new report by London-based investment migration consultancy firm Henley & Partners.
The report shows that Nairobi has over 5,000 high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) who have Sh120 million ($1 million) and above.
The report also showed that there are 240 multi-millionaires ($10 million+) and 11 centi-millionaires ($100 million+).
However, Nairobi does not have any one-dollar billionaires.
Johannesburg in South Africa has the highest number of dollar millionaires on the continent. It boasts 15,200 HNWIs, 800 multi-millionaires, 28 centi-millionaires, and two-dollar billionaires.
Egypt’s Cairo came second with 420 multi-millionaires, 28 centi-millionaires and 4 dollar billionaires. It boasts 7,800 HNWIs.
South Africa’s Cape Town ranked third with 6,800 HNWIs followed by Lagos which has 6,300.
Nigeria came fourth with 330 multi-millionaires, 20 centi-millionaires, 3 billionaires. It boasts 6,300 HNWIs.
