OLEA Insurance picks Anthony Wachira as new CEO

Africa-Press – Kenya. French-based firm OLEA Insurance Solutions has announced the appointment of Anthony Wachira, the new chief executive officer for the Kenyan subsidiary effective April 12023.

He replaces the outgoing founder, Herbert Ocholi who has been at the helm since September 2014.

Wachira assumes the new role with solid and proven Kenyan and regional insurance market background that he has gathered since he joined OLEA in 2021 in a management position.

Before then, he worked at Minet and Alexander Forbes, making commendable achievements such as steering profitable growth strategies, while forging lasting relationships.

He enters the new office with in-tray tasks, most especially to spearhead business expansion within the country.

Further, his focus among other things will be to identify and maximise new business opportunities in health products, aviation and the hospitality industry.

Commenting on Wachira’s appointment, the outging CEO, Ocholi said he is optimistic that the new leadership will add to the progress that the firm has attained over the past eight years.

“I set up Koolridge Insurance Brokers which evolved into OLEA Kenya Insurance Brokers in 2018, after entering into a partnership with OLEA Insurance Solutions. From our humble beginnings, the company has grown into a well-known respected brand across Africa and key player in Kenya,” Ocholi said.

“I welcome Wachira as the new CEO and wish him well as he steers the Olea Kenya to the next level of progress.”

The firm entered the Kenyan market in 2019 after buying a 40 per cent stake in the Kenyan Koolridge Insurance Brokers.

In Africa, it has a footprint in 38 Countries, 24 being subsidiaries and 14 correspondents.

The company recently made entry into South Africa with further plans to open offices in Uganda later this year.

Outgoing CEO, Ocholi will transition to the role of the executive director of the OLEA Kenyan board and the OLEA Group’s technical director for East Africa.
