Africa-Press – Kenya. Kapsaret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi, known for sharing insider information, revealed on Saturday evening that plans are already in place to swear in Deputy President nominee Kithure Kindiki on Tuesday.
The lawmaker, while appearing to indirectly target impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, revealed that the swearing-in would be conducted before 10:00 am
He further noted that Kindiki was considered for the role because he was respectful to other leaders and served Kenyans equally.
‘’Even our brother Kindiki whom we have given a job, even when he was a minister, he was not a minister for Tharaka Nithi but for the whole country. He has now been bestowed with the bigger role of being the Deputy President of Kenya and we will put the issue to rest. On Tuesday, by 10 am, he will have put the bible down.
Sudi also maintained that as lawmakers, they were not apologetic over their decision to send Gachagua home and have Kindiki take over his role.
‘’We are not apologetic over that. We want someone who can lead the country with respect and should be able to respect all Kenyans,” he added
Sudi challenged Kindiki to embark on a nationwide tour immediately after his swearing-in, urging him to show Kenyans that he is a national leader unbound by regional affiliations.
“He should walk to all corners of the country while knowing that he is a Kenyan and a leader of all Kenyans, are we together? When it is time for leadership, we should put arrogance aside and lead in the right manner,’’ Sudi added
The lawmaker did not spare Gachagua during the address, revealing that their decision as MPs to impeach him was not a political gimmick aimed at interfering with the mountain politics but rather a move targeted at shoving aside those they believed were selfish.
‘’In Parliament, we never touched the mountain, we just ousted a selfish leader trying to box diligent and patriotic Kenyans into a tribal cocoon,’’ he added.
This is not the first time Sudi has caused controversy over key issues that could only be intimated to be close to power sources. On September 22 this year, the lawmaker lashed out at the DP without directly mentioning his name. He noted that the DP had fallen out with everyone.
Soon after his comments, the impeachment motion against Gachagua gained ground before the National Assembly convened to oust him a fortnight ago.
“How come you fall out with mama mbogas, MCAs, and Governors? Sometimes if you are a leader of that kind, you should look within and ask yourself why you are falling out with leaders including your neighbours. It means that you are the problem,” he told a crowd.
“You were elected in less than 2 years, for example, and you own more than 5 hotels, how did you buy them? We should speak the truth. You frustrate people until no work can be accomplished because of you.”
