Raila wants to join government through back door- Ugenya MP

Africa-Press – Kenya. Movement for Democracy and Growth party leader David Ochieng has accused Azimio leader Raila Odinga of harbouring ill motives with his new demands to President William Ruto.

The Ugenya MP, who hails from Raila’s backyard, said his party flatly rejects the latest demand by the Opposition leader.

Raila rejected Ruto’s proposal to have a purely parliamentary process deal with issues raised by the Azimio la Umoja team.

According to the opposition, a purely parliamentary process may not serve the intended ends

In a statement, Ochieng said his party fully supports Ruto’s proposal to have a bipartisan dialogue on the issues raised by the Opposition through Parliament.

Ochieng said MDG is perturbed by the demand by Azimo Raila Odinga for the adoption of a process akin to the 2008 National Accord in resolving the issues at hand. “We flatly reject this outrageous demand.”

“It is our view that parliament as a constitutional body has the capacity to effectively tackle matters of the public of interest,” he explained.

Ochieng added that it is baffling to see Azimio threatening fire and brimstone should Parliament be involved.

“This is ridiculous and a display of disdain Azimio’s leadership has for Parliament,” he stated.

“If Azimio is interested in dialogue let them be honest and stop sideshows.”

He added that Azimio has demonstrated beyond doubt that they’re not interested in the issues affecting Kenyans as they claim but have hidden motives of joining the government through illegal and unconstitutional means.
