Africa-Press – Kenya. Crease Beasts captain Ian Aston is over the moon after beating Gladiators 21-17 in the Kenya Lacross League match at USIU.

Aston, however, warned that the victory did not just come on a silver platter as they were made to work hard for it.

“No game is simple. Victory calls for persistence, hard work and cooperation on the pitch,” he noted.

He added: “Key passing and strong passes saw us emerge victorious. However, there is still room for improvement in certain areas and we will no doubt make amends,” he added.

On the other hand, Gladiators team captain Felix Ouma admitted that they were never at their best. “We have conceded two goals. We had several fouls which cost us heavily. We played high stakes which is not normally allowed in the game. We also got several time-outs that saw our opponents take advantage of us.”

He added: “The last quarter messed us up because the first three worked in our favour. We had good markings which worked for us.

Going forward, we look to work on our stick work, dodges and shooting. Most of us are still learning and we hope to do better,” he added.

In the women’s matches, the Visionaries outclassed the Black Stingers 20-8 while the Bangers beat the Panthers with a convincing 28-10 victory.

In another match, Bangers beat Visionaries 24-13 while the Panthers redeemed themselves with a 13-7 victory over the Black Stingers. Beatrix top the table with nine points.

The league which started over the weekend is expected to end in December.
