Africa-Press – Kenya. Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Thursday interacted with a section of Kenyan women in business.
He met women associated with Business Incubator for African Women Enterprise (BIAWE), a project that aims to increase the number of women entrepreneurs accessing business support services from business incubators.
Sanchez mingled with beneficiaries of the program at Kenya Industrial Research Development Institute during his tour of Kenya.
BIAWE is a Spanish fund that supports women in business financially.
In conjunction with the Comesa Federation of Women in Business (COMFWB), the Spanish fund came together to empower African women interested in business enterprises.
BIAWE is a pilot project aimed at addressing some of the major challenges faced by women involved in small and medium-scale enterprises.
By providing a conducive working environment, it is designed to foster the growth of new and emerging small businesses, nurturing young firms and helping them to survive and grow during the start-up period as they are most vulnerable then.
BIAWE’s mission is to establish and upgrade a network of business incubators in the COMESA region that will contribute to the increased survival and growth of women’s enterprises.
Other COMESA states that are participating in the implementation of the BIAWE project include Burundi-textiles and Sudan-Agro-processing and ICT.
