Stop attacking Winnie, Makau Mutua defends Raila's daughter

Africa-Press – Kenya. Azimio la Umoja spokesperson Makau Mutua has urged Kenyans to stop attacking Winnie Odinga – the daughter of ODM boss Raila Odinga.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mutua said Winnie is a young politician and she should be mentored.

“Those who’ve been attacking Winnie Odinga should cease and desist. She’s a young woman in politics. A man in her shoes wouldn’t be so pilloried. Winnie got talent, but advice and mentorship will be key. Let’s support our young (people),” Mutua tweeted.

This is after Winnie Odinga came back to Twitter after one month of deactivating her account.

“Back on Twitter after some time and my mentions are in shambles. I see you’ve been talking. Just be knowing there’s a whole different system between an election campaign and an election day. If I was handling the latter I’d be tweeting this from the wedding venue! Talk soon!” she tweeted.

Her deactivation from Twitter was after a war of words between her and Lawyer Donald Kipkorir over the 2022 General Election.

The lawyer had claimed that Winnie was part of the Azimio team that sabotaged Raila’s August 9 election.

“Since 2005, I supported freely every political journey of Raila Odinga. Today, Kenya begins a new chapter under President William Ruto. Those that let down Baba like Winnie Odinga and others at Azimio Secretariat now want to troll me. The trolling is misplaced & ill-advised,” he said in a tweet.

But hours after, in what seemed to be denouncing the tweet, Winnie claimed that her account was hacked and later, she deactivated it.

“Twitter hacked. Got it back. Everyone can take it easy now,” Winnie said.
