Africa-Press – Kenya. Tusker coach Charles Okere has heaped praise on goalkeeper Brandon Obiero, who made his debut for the Brewers in their win against Mara Sugar last weekend.

Okere was pleased with Obiero’s performance on his debut in place of injured Brian Opondo. “I am very pleased with him, being his first game and keeping a clean sheet on top of the win. Now I wish him all the best, and it is now up to him to be consistent,” said Okere.

He added: “He had a really good game and made some superb saves which ensured we didn’t concede. This is now a challenge to the players that once you are given a chance, it is up to you to make use of it.”

At the same time, Tusker FC winger Thomas Omolle hopes his first goal of the season can spur success this campaign.

Omolle scored the winning goal in last Saturday’s 1-0 win away to Mara Sugar, and he believes finding the back of the net after several impressive performances is the catalyst he needs to spur his season.

“It was a huge delight to score and help the team win. I have been working hard to get that goal, and getting it finally is a massive boost for me in terms of confidence,” he said.

He added, “This season, my target was to add goals and assists to my game. Last season, I didn’t record as much, and I have been ambitious to try and improve.”

The winger says he has been paying more attention to his deliveries and eye for goal in training and believes the results are finally showing.

“As a forward, you are measured by either the goals you score or the assists you give. I hope to keep improving, scoring, and assisting because that is what the team needs me for. Of course, I still have lots to improve on, and I am to ensure that I deliver more,” added the forward.

With only 11 games gone this season, scoring early will be an advantage to set into his targets and achieve them.
