Ultimatum, Azimio PG mark Raila's week

Africa-Press – Kenya. As Kenyans transitioned to June, Aimio leader Raila Odinga’s time was spent in meeting the team’s legislators and making some key decisions. The Azimio coalition held a special Parliamentary Group meeting at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, which was chaired by the opposition chief.

The Tuesday meeting was meant to rally the MPs to opposing the Finance Bill 2023 and take a stand with the progress of the bipartisan talks. While addressing the media on Wednesday, Raila gave a summary of the PG.

“Yesterday (Tuesday) I was here with our MPs and I told them I don’t want to see even a single MP supporting it. I want our MPs to stand up and be counted,” he said.”

“We will count those who will oppose and those who will support so that the voters who elected them know who the betrayers are,” Raila added.

The Opposition chief gave the Kenya Kwanza administration a dead time to do away with the Finance Bill or face the opposition’s wrath. “President William Ruto has until Monday ( tomorrow) to listen to listen to Kenyans,”Raila said.

He noted that it was unfair to impose more taxes on already financially overburdened Kenyans. “We shall blow the trumpet, we will tell you what to do. That day is coming soon,” Raila said speaking at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation Headquarters.

The opposition chief skipped Thursday’s Madaraka Day fete, which was held at Moi Stadium in Embu County. He, however, finished his week with some sports as on Saturday, the ODM leader attended the National Super League match between Shabana FC and Kibera Black Stars at Gusii Stadium.

Raila donated Sh 500,000 to Shabana and Sh200,000 to Kibera Black Stars. Shabana won the game with 1-0 against the Black Stars, making it their seventh consecutive win in the NSL match.
