Africa-Press – Kenya. Women champions Nairobi Water Queens will wind up their 2022 season with a tough match against National Cereals and Produce Board this weekend.

This is one of the five all-women matches on card as the Kenya Handball Federation league officially comes to a close at Nyayo Stadium.

NCPB, who are placed third with 36 points, have two matches to play and positive results will see them move above Ulinzi Sharks and into second place.

“We are keen on winning our two fixtures this weekend. The mood is positive in our camp,” said NCPB coach Brayan Mathews.

The millers start their tough schedule on Saturday against Sharks, who have 36 points and just a game left.

It will be a tough battle between two of the league’s top goal-getters in NCPB’s Sarah Mabonga and the soldiers’ Sarah Wasike.

NCPB will then confront crowned champions Water Queens on Sunday. Queens have maximum 42 points from 21 games and are out to ice it with a clean run.

Rampaging Jack Ochieng’s charges, who remain unbeaten in the league for the last ten years, have been dominant through out.

“It is a match we have to approach cautiously and go for nothing less but a win. We are ready for them,” said Ochieng.

In Gladys Chilo, Faith Mikhala, Brenda Ariviza and Brenda Musambai, they have a deadly quartet whose presence sends chills down the opposition’s spine.

Christine Murigi-led Amazon, who are seventh will play tenth-placed Rising Star on Saturday and Daystar University on Sunday.

The students, who are led by the tireless Meldone Akoth, will also confront fifth-placed Nairobi City County.

Fixtures

Saturday: Amazon v Rising Stars, Daystar University v NCC, Ulinzi v NCPB

Sunday: Daystar University v Amazon, NCPB v Water Queens
