Africa-Press – Kenya. Outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta has yet again committed himself to peacefully handing over power to the incoming President William Ruto.

Speaking at Maasai Lodge during a meeting with Azimio parliamentary group leaders, Uhuru said he will do so because it is a constitutional duty.

He noted that Raila Odinga will remain his president despite the outcome of the August 9 presidential poll.

“…I will hand over power smiling because it’s my Constitutional duty to do so, but my leader is Baba Raila Odinga,” Uhuru said.

At the same time, the outgoing president said Kenyans denied themselves a chance to foster unity in the country by failing to vote in the Azimio leader for the top seat.

“You denied yourself an opportunity to bring the country together, You haven’t denied Raila. Msiwekwe Kwa mfuko,” he said on Wednesday.

He indicated that Kalonzo would have made a perfect Chief Minister for this Kenya had Azimio won the election.

Uhuru insisted that he would have made a good representative of the Azimio agenda at the senate should he make it as the Speaker.

This is the first time President Uhuru Kenyatta has met the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance parliamentary group since the August 9 polls.

On Tuesday night, he visited former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at his Karen home.

This was the first time the Azimio leadership was being seen together in weeks.
