Africa-PressKenya. Politicians allied to Wiper Democratic Movement leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, have cautioned him against supporting former Prime Minister and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader, Raila Odinga, in his presidential quest.

Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, September 8, the team claimed that they had been instructed by Kalonzo’s supporters to relay the message to the leader.

They further challenged Kalonzo to remain in the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) and offer Kenyans alternative leadership besides Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.

They argued that if the principals in OKA stay together till the end, they stand a better chance of capturing the presidency in the August 9, 2022 General Election.

“Today we must put to rest wild speculations that our party leader, Dr Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, would consider deputising former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the 2022 General Election.”

“This speculation has no basis and it is not one of the options we are even thinking about,” read a joint statement from the elected leaders.

The team further hinted that OKA principals were working towards nominating a flag bearer and that Kenyans should expect a nomination by December this year.

The leaders threatened to never forgive Kalonzo if he chooses to support Raila.

The group was led by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua , Kitui Woman Representative Irene Kasalu, and Makueni Member of Parliament, Dan Maanzo.

Other leaders present included Makai Mulu (MP Kitui Central), Edith Nyenze (MP Kitui West) and Danson Mwashako (MP Wundanyi).

This comes even as the party struggles to align itself with the right faction, with talks between OKA principals failing to give an outright direction.

Leaders seeking OKA the flag bearer nomination include Kalonzo, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, his KANU counterpart Gideon Moi and FORD Kenya leader Moses Wetangula.

The threat comes after Kalonzo made it clear that he would never support Raila after being taken for a ride in two presidential elections.
