Africa-PressKenya. Nominated Member of Parliament Wilson Sossion has decamped to Deputy William Ruto’s camp and joined the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Sossion, who was nominated to Parliament by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), praised the DP for his bottom-up economic model, saying that it would liberate the millions of Kenyans living in poverty.

Speaking on Sunday, October 11, Sossion stated that Ruto was best suited to succeed his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that he would be a record-breaker when it comes to delivering on development projects.

“I can count you as amongst the few brave and fearless leaders to take that route in the African continent,” Sossion stated.

The former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General, further bragged about his good relations with civil servants, noting that he would rally them to support the DP in his quest to become the country’s fifth President. He added that the Deputy President has the interest of the public servants at heart.

Although Sossion has not made it clear on whether he will be contesting for an elective seat, reports indicated that he is warming up for the Bomet Senatorial seat.

However, Sossion’s move to decamp from former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM party was not taken lightly with Bomet senator, Christopher Lang’at asking the Deputy President to receive the former KNUT secretary General with caution.

Lang’at argued that Sossion was a ODM mole planted by the Odinga party to gather intelligence on the operations and plans of the DP’s UDA party.

On his part, Bomet Senator Christopher Lang’at faulted Sossion’s move to the party. Lang’at argued that the former KNUT chairperson was an ODM party mole who was seeking mileage through the DP.

“He is still an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party as a member and pays full allegiance to his party boss Raila Odinga and not Ruto as he might want to make us believe, so be careful,” Lang’at stated.

Sossion, however, dismissed the claims saying that the contest for the Bomet Senatorial position should be issue-based and not smear campaigns.

“This seat does not belong to anyone, it does not belong to Christopher or Sossion, our politics should be issue-based since it is the people who decide so there is no cause for anyone to get irritated for nothing,” stated Sossion.

“Ruto needs numbers, I have fought many battles and I know the strategy of winning it, it is the numbers.”
