Your days are numbered, Ruto warns illicit brewers

Africa-Press – Kenya. The government has issued a stark warning to all illicit brewers that their days are numbered.

Motioning his commitment to eradicating it once and for all, President William Ruto acknowledged that many lives have continued to be lost, as a result, hence the need to stop it.

“Hii pombe haramu…nataka niwatangazie mapema tutaizima, hawa watu wote ambao wanatengeneza pombe chafu inaumiza wananchi wengine wanakuwa vipofu wajue hatutakubali tena,” he said.

This loosely translates to, “I want to warn those producing these illicit brews that make people people blind, we are not going to allow it to continue.”

Ruto spoke during the official opening of the Devki steel plant in Kwale on Friday.

He said, “Wazee wanahangaika wanatembea wakilala barabarani ndio hawa watoto wetu nao wako kwa mitaro, hiyo hasara hatutakubali tena.”

“Our old men and youth are now walking and sleeping by the roadside. We are not going to allow any further loss,” he said.

Ruto said the government needs the elderly men to protect their families and the youth for development of the country.

He wondered why the women are not welcoming to the idea yet their husbands continue to abdicate their roles.

The Head of State also assured foreign investors that his government will provide them the necessary environment to thrive.

The plant is one of the biggest in the East and Central Africa producing tee bars, TMT bars among other products.
