Africa-Press – Kenya. Youth football development coach Evans Rono has lauded the Ministry of Sports’ Making Champions of Tomorrow programme.

The initiative, launched by Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed in July seeks to discover, tap and nurture young sportsmen and women across the country.

Speaking in Eldoret while training students from six secondary schools in the region at Hill School grounds Rono said the students are ready to learn.

The schools included Premier Academy, St. Joseph Secondary, Racecourse Secondary, Sosiani Secondary, Wareng Secondary and hosts Hill School — attracting about 400 students.

However, Rono said they would have wished to incorporate secondary school students currently engaged in the school championships but wouldn’t want to interfere with the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports schedule.

The KSSSA national games will be held in Nakuru starting on Thursday.
