Africa-Press – Lesotho. Mosh School of Baking and Catering graduated 60 students from four different courses last week Friday. Mosh School of Baking and Catering is a Culinary school that prides itself in quality services in

catering for local companies and events as well as passing on that knowledge to the up and coming generation to build a foundation on which the nation of Lesotho can stand on.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony Mosh School of Baking and Catering Founder ‘Mamoshe Makumane acknowledged all students who took part during the course of the year, she

encouraged them to go and work hard. She revealed that the idea behind the school was triggered by her realisation that most students idle around for various reasons, “by then tertiary schools were few”.

She added that some students are unable to complete high school for various reasons like a family not affording school fees while some students are more skilled in handy-jobs.

Makumane said it is only when one has passion for what they do that they can succeed. “There were challenges when I started the school, people said some discouraging words like

‘who would start a school on their own, we would never take our children to that school’, but still here I am standing. This is why I strongly urge you to

go work hard because there is a lot of money out there, you also witnessed that when you received a lot orders immediately when you landed here,” she said.

Makumane said before she could open the school, she went abroad to study in order to improve her baking and cooking skills. She indicated that she had

a challenge with the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) as her syllabus is different from that of other schools, in the sense that they do a lot of

practical than theory. However, MoET advised her to revise the syllabus so that NMDS can support their courses and MoET credit them with diploma with the same unique course from other schools.

In an interview with Mosh School of Baking and Catering graduate ‘Maletsatsi Moletsane, she said she is ready to go and open her own business but for now she will look for a job to

attain capital. She said she had always had passion for cooking though most of the things she realised when she enrolled at the school. Mosh school of baking and Catering has attained a remarkable success since its inception in 2003.

It is a small scale catering school that offers 4 Level courses being, course 1: Baking or Technical Pastry, course 2: Interior Cake icing or icing programme Course 3: Professional Catering and course 4: Flower arranging and decoration.
