Speaking at the pump handover ceremony, AAAL Chairperson Ms Malehloenya Nkhasi explained that she visited Mount Royal School in the middle of the week in the morning, and was surprised at 8am. school children have not yet arrived.
“To my surprise they did not arrive, and in the meantime they were carrying buckets and barrels of water, and when I asked what the water was, they said they had been ordered to bring it to their homes to come. pour it into a large tank so that they can use it here at school, either to drink and to do other activities that require water.
I was devastated, and asked the school principal to write a letter to our organization requesting a need for the school, and when such a request was received we checked it out with my classmates, to see if we could how to incorporate it into our plans, ”said Nkhasi.
He indicated that they had met with all the departments concerned to see that they were connecting water to the area with the permission of the Ministry of Water Affairs.
“We are an association of 40 Australian alumni here in Lesotho.
We have studied for different years and when we left school we were advised to join forces to form an organization that will help people in our own countries, the money for the improvements we are making comes from the Australian government.
We have helped various schools, among other things, we helped one school by buying them all the school uniforms, and also the Koali li primary school, which is in Berea. We help schools and organizations and not individuals because the goal is to change the environment, ”Nkhasi explained.
School Principal Sister Ignatia Rakaibe explained that for many years they needed water so much that they faced problems with the low number of children at school (201) as parents now send their children to a waterless school.
“I would like to thank and congratulate the local teachers we have been working on over the crisis and the country is short of language and hearing teachers.
We are facing serious problems for children who are less likely to come to school, the reason being that there is no water in their home and that makes the child illiterate, today our cry has reached the ears of those who are grateful.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Association for the Deaf and Speechless Ms Regina Lephoi expressed her gratitude as an organization by buying Nkhasi kobo Sesotho, saying their hearts were satisfied with the gift of eternal life. only water.
