Africa-Press – Lesotho. Cashbuild has donated building material vouchers to seven primary schools in the Teyateyaneng local area, totaling M105 000.00 on Thursday at the launch of their new store.
Seven schools that participated in the Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition where each awarded M15 000.00 worth of building materials. Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), which is a shareholder with Cashbuild
also topped up with an additional M15 000 worth of building materials. The competition was launched with the effort of uplifting underprivileged schools in the Berea District.
Irrespective of awarding all the schools, the overall winner of Cashbuild Art-at-Heart Competition was Teboho Macheli, a student from Lekokoaneng Primary School. The Cashbuild Art-at-Heart competition required learners from different primary schools, to submit one best art work to Cash Build.
This artwork will be displayed in the Cashbuild store for the next five years. As the vouchers where being handed out to different school representatives, the children entertained attendants with singing, cultural

activities and theatrical performances. In an interview with Informative Newspaper, Cashbuild Manager Teboho Khabo said they will host the competition every five years when it re-launches its stores, he also said Cashbuild is celebrating their 40th anniversary. However. He added that some of the schools did not complete the entry forms for the competition, so they
missed out on the opportunity to get free vouchers. Cashbuild Operating Executive Ian Mckay said they try as much as possible to employ the community members within their territorial landscape, saying they hoped to increase the number of people they employ, especially citizens in the transport and logistics industry as a way of giving back to the community.
Lekokoaneng Primary School Principal, ‘Mamashoabathe Rampo said; “With this voucher we want to build a kitchen where we can prepare food for the leaners.
The place where we prepare food now is very inconvenient for bad weather conditions. This voucher will enable us to build a proper structure with windows and a door which can lock, we are so thankful for this.
Meanwhile, the District Education Officer ‘Mamakhobalo Maluke said they appreciated strides made by Cashbuild and applauded them for their ongoing efforts to make sure that students learn in a healthy and conducive environment. She also added that blessed is the hand that gives than the hand that receives, urging Cashbuild to keep up with the good work and continue to help more schools.
