Africa-Press – Lesotho. The matter in which three members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) face mutiny charges in the Court Martial is expected to resume on June 17. The matter was postponed in January after one of the accused, Major Pitso Ramoepane filed an application before the High Court staying the proceedings in the Court Martial.
On April 24, the High Court gave the Court Martial green light to proceed with the case. The High Court ruled that the Court Martial proceedings should not to be reviewed and set aside, adding that the murder case before both the High Court and the Court Martial could co-exist without any prejudice.

Advocate Thulo Hoeane who represents the Crown said the defence will be ready to procced with its case when the matter resumes in June. Hoeane said the Crown closed its case in January after leading the evidence of several soldiers of various ranks.

Ramoepane, Captains; Boiketsiso Fonane and Litekanyo Nyakane are charged with mutiny that allegedly occurred on September 5, 2017 at the Ratjomose Barracks.
The trio is also accused of failing to report the mutiny or suppress it. Their trial is before a six-member-panel led by Court President Brigadier Mabote Sekoboto and Judge Advocate retired Justice Winston Matanzima Maqutu. The accused are represented by King’s Counsel; Motiea Teele and Karabo Mohau along with Advocate Letuka Molati.
