uncertainties, the science and innovation have played the crucial roles to adapt and kept the world functioning amid the virus induced unprecedented eventualities.

The Girls Coding Academy offers a distinctive digital education for kids as young as 5 years to 23 years old. At just M350.00 monthly fee, the academy teaches and challenges these kids to explore their

cognitive imagination through their hands on training from Monday to Sunday. The program cycles takes four months and the students learn both physically and

remotely at the convenient times The brains behind the Academy, ‘Maneo Mapharisa affirms that the academy sets out to “equip 80% girls and 20% boys with basic computer”.

Such skills range from: Robotics, 3D Printing, and Computer science concepts and enable them to engage experimentally in application development. “Our purpose is to offer an opportunity

for students to participate in an integrative hands-on program, which includes career and technical education (CTE), science, and digital media concepts, in

building a partially-autonomous and remote controlled robot,” she said. She added: “We are promoting all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Girls Coding Academy but especially

quality education, Gender Equality, Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. Girls Coding Academy programs entails participating in an international program

called FIRST Robotics which gives students opportunities to build their knowledge and skills by working directly with volunteer mentors in the field of

engineering, vocational education, and information systems. Today, there are close to 3,800 worldwide schools that participate in this program. ” The Girls Coding Academy has for the

past three years been offering the high-end computer programming courses. The academy encourages and exposes the students to relate directly to Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics

(STEM). The training arms them with the skills ranging from graphics, Computer Aided Design (CAD), video production, 3D printings and web-page design. She further highlighted that the

academy’s approach has been to address career and life skills, instilling values among young adults in the program. “When a curious mind is given resources and opportunities to learn, research, test, teach, and invent, the possibilities are limitless. ”
