Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Prime Minister (PM) Dr Moeketsi Majoro and the Founder of a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) called International Youth Fellowship (IYF) Dr Ock Soo Park have on Tuesday held a sod turning ceremony for the construction of the Youth Resource Centre at Lepereng, Ha Leqele.

Ministry of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation (MGYSR) Principal Secretary (PS) ‘Mamoeketsi Ntho revealed at this sod-turning event that there are only 10 Youth Resource Centres in Lesotho, and in Maseru district, the centre is located at Semonkong.

She remarked that the IYF brings a beautiful gift that will transform the lives of the youth in Maseru. Ntho indicated that the expectation is that the centre will respond to the youth’s educational needs and teach them about responsibility.

IYF Representative Pastor Sim Juhwan said the centre will also be a platform for young people to learn different activities through their youth empowerment programs such as mindset training.

“Through this centre, so many youth will receive hope and enjoy our recreational activities,” he said. Hwan further said they encourage youth by positioning their mind-set from negative to positive.

He added that they want to train future leaders with transformed mind-sets through mind-set education and training, activities such as dancing, cultural exchange as well as mind camps.

IYF Founder Dr Ock Soo Park said this centre will teach the youth how to think deeply, have self-control and be the most brilliant people. “I hope the Grace of God will be upon all the children of Lesotho to become the best nation in the world,” he said.

Park further said he hopes this centre will become the reception change to the youth of Lesotho. Expressing gratitude, Dr Majoro said there is hope that the coming generations will be observant as a result of the centre.

He emphasized that this centre is intended to provide young people with skills, to improve them and teach them handicrafts. “The expectation is that people who will first benefit from the construction of this centre are the local residents, those will be involved in its construction,” he said.

Majoro pleaded the Leqele community to protect the centre from the beginning of its construction until it is complete as it is going to benefit them in future.

IYF is a global youth organization and an international NGO that was founded on Christian beliefs. It is actively using mind education which opens doors to exchange, allowing youth to adopt the bright and upright heart.

IYF Founder Reverend Park has also indicated that during the Covid-19 period, he has seen amazing results from delivering the message of hope to the world through broadcasting media, and highlighted that through assisting the youth, IYF is the best organization around the world which specializes on behavioural change, and so they want to work with the youth of Lesotho, hence the launch of the youth centre.

IYF was introduced in Lesotho in 2015. Its aim is to facilitate development in the country through IYF mind lectures and vocational training and promote international exchange between the youth of Lesotho and other cultures.

It has also provided scholarships for students who want to study in Asian countries such as Korea. Since its inception in Lesotho, IYF has provided mind-set education to the various government ministries.
