LEFA suspends games at Bambata

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) has suspended hosting league games at the newly-built technical centre at its Bambatha Tšita Sports Arena headquarters until further notice. The association said the move is to allow contractors at the venue to finish work on one of the spectator stands.

LEFA’s decision means the highly-anticipated Vodacom Premier League match between Bantu and Lioli, that was scheduled to be played at Bambatha on Saturday, will now move to Mohale’s Hoek DIFA Ground.

Last year the association opened its doors to Premier League and A-Division clubs to host their games at the newly-built ground but will now close them temporarily.

Renovations to give LEFA’s headquarters a facelift are almost done and the spectators stand is expected to be completed this year. It is likely the ground will resume hosting league games when the second round of the season gets underway next year.

The work at Bambatha started in 2020. Installing spectator stands is one of six projects that were started by LEFA with the help of football’s world governing body, FIFA. Five of the projects are at Bambatha and one is in Mohale’s Hoek.

The technical centre and gym at Bambatha have been completed and the installation of artificial turf at Bambatha and Mohale’s Hoek is also done which means four of the projects are completed.

The two remaining projects are the spectator stands and the renovations at the Bambatha main offices. Weekend Vodacom Premier League fixtures: Saturday (15:00)
