In conversation with the LDF spokesperson Colonel Sakeng Lekola, the meeting, to be held under the authority of the Ministry of Defence, will be hosted by the Lesotho Defence Force Inspector General’s Office (LDF IG), which is set to take over the chairmanship of the Regional Defence Oversight Body for the 2025/26 term.
He said this high-level regional gathering will bring together senior military officers, defence inspectorate delegations, and oversight experts from across the SADC region. Adding that deliberations will focus on critical matters such as military accountability, institutional integrity, inspection frameworks, and compliance standards within the regional defence cooperation mechanism.
He stated that a major highlight of the event will be the official handover of the SADC DIWG chairmanship from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to Lesotho. This transition highlights Lesotho’s growing role in promoting defence oversight and collaboration within the region.
