Africa-PressLesotho. etropolitan Lesotho has launched an affordable medical aid, Health4Me. Health4Me allows employer groups to offer cost-effective healthcare cover to their employees earning less than M10 000 per month, employees 18 years and older, for as long as they are actively employed, employer groups with five or more employees.

Metropolitan Health Lesotho offers seven medical scheme options for employees earning above this threshold, in line with Metropolitan’s focus on innovation and flexibility.

The Health4Me follows a building block approach; employers can choose the combination of benefits most suitable to their employees’ needs and available budget. For employee, spouse and child premiums start from M186.00 for Bronze, while Silver starts from M234.00 and Gold is M294.00.

When applying they need a fully completed company application form and membership template (a list of employees you would like to provide cover for) to be completed and submitted to them through email.

“The socioeconomic environment within which we live in today has become such that access to good quality and affordable healthcare has become a basic human right, and we dare not pretend otherwise.

As a country our Healthcare challenges remain great, we still have the third highest prevalence of HIV and AIDS in the world and malnutrition and stunting are constant challenges. Add a pandemic to our health care system and an already strained system becomes overwhelmed.

I mention these challenges not to be morose or melancholy, but because I want to highlight just how incredibly important this launch is today,” said Managing Director of Metropolitan Lesotho Mamello Phomane. She further said access to health care remains an integral part of every person’s well-being.

“I think we can all agree that mainstream medical aid is still unaffordable for many people who are in the low to middle income bands, and this often makes it very difficult to access good quality health care.

Most people that can afford medical aid do so because they are part of an employer subsidized health insurance scheme that employers require as a condition of employment,” she added.

Managing Director of Health Metropolitan, Sepinare Lenkoe, said Group Health Insurance is the answer for all employers everywhere because there is strength and scale in numbers.

“When employees have group health insurance, they gain greater access to medical resources.

Consequently, workers can rest assured that they can rely on their health care plan in case of a catastrophic illness or emergency. This is peace of mind that few have.

“For any business or organization, providing employees with the peace of mind that comes from health insurance means reduced sick days and absences and therefore more productive and focused workers.

Research shows that having health insurance at any given time is associated with a lower likelihood and reduced number of missed workdays. Generally, healthy employees tend to work more effectively and efficiently than employees who are ill.

Unhealthy workers may retire or quit early, which could lead to expensive employee turnover,” he says. Health4Me addresses this challenge through benefit design that provides your employees with improved access to quality, private healthcare and additional benefits.

The carefully chosen, proven building blocks that make up our offering serve to improve the physical and workplace wellness of all employees. Starting with an integrated view of the health and wellbeing of participating employees, including Health4Me taps into deep insights gathered over a period of 16 years, allowing people to structure our benefits according to your company’s specific needs.
