MINISTER OUTLINES MINISTERIAL COMMITMENTS AS PER 2023/24 BUDGET SPEECH

Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Minister of Information, Communications, Science and technology and Innovation Ms Nthati Moorosi presented the status of the ministerial commitments as per 2023/2024 budget speech to the Senate on Wednesday.

She outlined that as the ministry their commitments is to profile and to enable migration of some of the public services to online platforms. She added that tender for the consulting firm that will develop e-Government services closed on June 07, it is awaiting evaluation and award.

She also said the ministry is busy with sensitizing efforts and broadening internet access, coupled with expansion of digital broadcasting by connecting at least 10 radio stations.

In conclusion, she highlighted that the ministry is going to introduce one parliament television channel to the digital platform, and establish of multiple television channels in collaboration with the private sector.

On the same token, the Principal Secretary in the ministry Mr Kanono Ramashamole added that the tests for live broadcast for tv channels have been conducted on microwave links between the National Assembly and Lesotho Television (LTV), as well as from LTV to Berea transmission site.

However, he said it has been identified that the current head-end requires upgrading for optimal performance, and tender for the upgrade is in process.
