Africa-Press – Lesotho. Mpati Letšela, a 16 year old Lesotho High School student has challenged the youth to think out of the box and pursue their dreams. Letšela has set an example

as a writer of a published academic book and owns a business that produces Pandies. To add the cherry on top, she also passed her grade 10 with Merit (Top 1).

Arts&Lifestyle had an exclusive interview with Letšela in which she explained how her passion for writing and business came about. She stated that she was approached by her teacher who

encouraged her to write a piece that will be rewarded and published in the ‘Lesotho grade 9 text books’, she says she did not believe her teacher but knowing that her teacher believes in her,

she wrote the story like any other activities she does with utmost attention. “I gave the story all my attention, whenever I set my mind on something I give it my best as if there is

no tomorrow and I treat my studies with maximum attention”. Letšela revealed that when the story was published in 2020 she was excited. She urged students to take certain situations serious in life as

through such, they can learn a lesson and make a change in others’ lives. She specified that she is also a founder and a creator of the business Pandies, whereby her and the

tailor ‘Maliopelo Mpholle manufacture Pandies, which are panties fitted with reusable sanitary pads to help disadvantaged women who cannot afford sanitary

pads. “I have seen a need for Pandies in my village and other villages in Lesotho, I gave a mother in my village some of those Pandies and she appreciated them.

I humbly implore people and organisations to invest in this business. With this innovation, there is hope to restore the dignity of vulnerable teenagers, and the products can make a

life changing impact on the lives of the needy if organisations may join hands to avail them as a donation, especially in remote areas,” she said. She advised her peers to put extra effort in their school work, do thorough researches on the topics of their studies and revise question papers like she did.
