Africa-PressLesotho. Kenyan legal scholar and activist Patrick Loch Otieno Lumumba is expected to grace the launch of two books authored by soldier and international writer Bothata Kennedy Silase in Maseru on October 2.

PLO Lumumba, as he is widely known, is the founder of PLO Lumumba Foundation and an advocate of the courts of Kenya and Tanganyika. He is a law professor known across the African continent and the world for his intellect and activism. Silase, on the other hand, is the deputy director of the PLO Lumumba Foundation-Lesotho Chapter.

The launch of Silase’s two books ‘The Recoil 2: Days of the Haunted’ and ‘Against All Odds’ will also mark the launch of ‘The save Lesotho campaign’ initiative at Victory Hall in Maseru – themed ‘Lesotho what now? Way forward informed by historical lessons five erstwhile leaders of Africa.

’ Its sub-theme will be: ‘Political reawakening, economic reorientation and social cohesion’.

The campaign is hinged on historical lessons learned from King Moshoeshoe I, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Captain Thomas Sankara, Colonel Muammar Gaddafi and Dr John Pombe Magufuli.

“We (The Bothata Kennedy Silase Foundation) have decided to bring Professor PLO Lumumba to Lesotho with The Save Lesotho Campaign because we believe the launch can catapult Lesotho to a different orbit in terms of Literature and Leadership,” Silase told this publication.

‘The Recoil 2’

is a sequel to ‘The Recoil’, the first book Silase authored centred on the life of protagonist Masilo Mokoena, who had forgotten about his malicious deeds orchestrated during his days at the National University of Lesotho.

Mokoena’s life was gravitating towards a different orbit and got to be punished because of his previous crimes which had resurfaced and impacted significantly on his life.

The other book, ‘Against All Odds’ is a memoir of Advocate Makhetha Julius Motšoari, an advocate of the courts of Lesotho. The 30-years-old Silase is an international author, ghost-writer and speech-writer, orator and pan-Africanist.

He is presently waiting to hear how his book has fared in the 2021 Commonwealth Short Story Competition whose results are expected to be announced soon.

He is an active Lesotho Defence Force airman with eight years of service. He works under the close supervision of literary agent, Thomas Michael Kielbasinski, from the United States of America. Silase has been named the deputy director of the PLO Lumumba Foundation in Lesotho, and is co-founder of The Bothata Kennedy Silase Foundation.
