Africa-Press – Lesotho. The Speaker of Parliament says it is up to the youth to remove poverty and replace it with prosperity in the country.

This the Speaker indicated while addressing the young Parliamentarians during the National Children’s Parliament.

According to Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane Children’s Parliament is meant to assist children to voice out their views on how issues affecting them should be addressed.

He also told them that the Parliament duty is to represent people, make Laws to improve livelihoods, allocation of funds aimed at improving livelihoods as well as being overseers.

At the same event, Ms. Amanda, Khozi Mukwashi Resident Coordinator United Nations said the platform is crucial for children to talk about their needs and how they want to be represented.

She said they should reflect on what they see in their communities. She further mentioned that investments need to be diverted into the development of Youth.

She said currently, only 40 percent of the educated youth is likely to be productive when compared to other countries.
