Africa-Press – Lesotho. Table tennis players have convened for a friendly school tournament last Saturday with the aim to rise the spirit of the players in the aftermath of Covid-19.
This was the first tournament for Lesotho Table Tennis Association (LETTA) after a sudden pause imposed by the pandemic. The games played at the Examination Council of Lesotho (Ecol) Centre, Khubetsoana.
Participants were Primary, High and Tertiary Schools such as Butha-Buthe High School, Likila High School, St Joseph’s High School, Thamae Primary School, Itekeng Primary
School, St Cyprian’s High School and National University of Lesotho (NUL). As revealed by LETTA Public Relations Officer (PRO) Thato Mathibeli, the aim of
the tournament was to arise the spirit of table tennis players, reconnect with the fans and above all, build oneness within table tennis players. She said Covid-19
outbreak had hit various sporting codes, some of which did not manage to make a come-back in the game. It is in the same tournament where only one team from both Male and Female categories
were to claim their 1st positions and they are Botha-Buthe High School on Ladies side and NUL on Men side. Meanwhile, on May 21,LETTA will have a meeting at Ecol headquarters, Maseru
where two representatives from each team registered under the LETTA will show up for sharing of the challenges and successes the association faced during the
year. LETTA season ends in April and repots are given annually. The association was established in 1997 by Chabeli Mohatlane who is also LETTA President.
