Africa-Press – Liberia. The Liberia Football Referee Association (LIFRA) has formally commended the leadership of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) for approving an increase in referees’ indemnity, calling the move a significant boost to the welfare and professionalism of match officials.

Under the new policy, the indemnity for match officials increases from less than US$40 to US$60 per game. The adjustment is seen as a major step toward aligning Liberia’s domestic standards with regional football benchmarks.

In a statement issued Tuesday, LIFRA extended “profound gratitude” to LFA President Mustapha I. Raji and the Executive Committee for what it described as a visionary and timely decision.

LIFRA stated that the increment reflects a commitment to improving working conditions and motivation for referees, who are essential to maintaining the integrity of Liberian football.

“This landmark decision demonstrates responsive leadership and a clear understanding of the sacrifices and responsibilities shouldered by referees at all levels of the game,” the association said in the release.

LIFRA noted that the improved package is expected to enhance on-field performance and accountability, ultimately raising the standards of domestic competitions.

The association particularly praised President Raji for his openness to dialogue and consistent efforts to strengthen football administration.

It also thanked members of the LFA Executive Committee for their collective support of the initiative.

Reaffirming its commitment to fairness, LIFRA pledged that referees nationwide will continue to uphold high officiating standards while supporting the LFA’s vision for sustainable development.

The statement was signed by LIFRA Secretary-General Abraham B. Fahnbulleh and approved by the association’s president, Lamin K. Kamara, Sr.
